We work with learners of all ages and cover most core subject areas, including math, English, social sciences, natural & physical sciences, foreign languages, writing, reading, standardized test prep, and school applications.
As our name suggests, we provide more than just content tutoring. In addition to one-on-one support in traditional subjects like math, science, and the humanities, our Learning Services include college admission coaching, test prep, and tutoring for students with a variety of learning difference.
We do our best to arrange a time that fits your schedule, including weekend sessions, free periods/study halls (limited times available), after-school hours, and evenings. Our main tutoring center is conveniently located in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle, WA. We also support families in the greater Chicago area and remotely by video or Skype. Other locations may also be arranged, but a travel fee will apply.
Due to a variety of factors, it is extremely challenging for our tutors to support in-home tutoring. However, we try our best to accommodate all families. If your student requires in-home tutoring, contact us. All home-based tutoring is subject to a flat travel fee in addition to our hourly tutoring rate.
We strive to instill independence, confidence, self-advocacy, and self-motivation in students through a supportive learning environment. The individual goals for each student dictate their desire or need to continue working with a tutor. We suggest two or more sessions per week for executive functioning support or other complex needs.
Our tutors all have at least a bachelor’s degree and many also have advanced degrees. In addition, every tutor has either extensive tutoring experience and/or formal teaching experience. We provide a broad network of support and continuing education for our team members that includes collaboration, monthly professional development, and peer mentorship. We cover sound research being conducted in the field of education as well as new theories and trends. In addition, our team is supported in gaining new skills around learning differences, social-emotional learning, and mentorship. Finally, each of our staff members is routinely screened with background checks through the FBI.
In order to fully understand the needs of our students, we offer a free 30 minute consultation call to all our new families. Information about content and learning needs, goals, personality, and scheduling requirements are noted and questions are answered. Careful consideration is given to the pairing between tutor and student and an initial session is scheduled. Because we do not require a packaged number of sessions, tutoring frequency can be modified to reflect student need.
Sessions are assumed to be one hour long unless otherwise determined by the tutor and family. For some students, especially those with attention issues, a longer session can allow for a students to sink deeper into the material. We tailor the length of the session to the needs of individual students.
Once a student is matched with a tutor, scheduling meeting times takes place directly between student/parent and tutor by phone or email. Tutors, students, and parents may schedule meetings as needed or on a consistent basis. Visit our Tutoring page to learn more about how we pair students with tutors.

No, you do not need to bring a check to your first tutoring session. All billing and payment is done online. Tutors submit hours at the end of every month. Then, an invoice is generated and sent via email. Unfortunately, we do not accept credit card payments at this time, but families may choose to pay via ACH online by following the link on the emailed invoice or by writing a check.
